Products

Viewpoint by Nutech is a Suite of Auto ID products that will collect your data and unleash your enterprise. The products within the Suite include Warehouse Management, Manufacturing Inventory (iSeries and Windows editions), Transaction Manager, Job/Shop Reporting, and Time and Attendance.

The Warehouse Management and Manufacturing Inventory products supports scanning at receiving, put-away, picking, shipping production, scrap, cycle counting and physical inventory. The Warehouse Management product pays special attention to directed put-away and picking, cross-docking, multiple order picking and packing options, location transfers and shipping verification.

The Time and Attendance is an advanced time collection and labor management system. It is an easy to use, secure and flexible solution to tracking employees. Features include: multiple facility capabilities, reporting, history, scheduling and unlimited attendance codes. Time and Attendance is an iSeries 400 product. Nutech is planning a future Windows edition.

These products are designed to manage the transfer of your data between the radio frequency devices and your ERP business system.


Product Features

License Plating
License plating refers to the technique of distinguishing each product carton or item with a unique serial number. The serial number points to a profile record in Viewpoint, which itemizes part numbers, quantity, inventory status, location, lot number and creation date. Simply scanning a carton label, which contains the serial number in text and barcode form, allows Viewpoint to completely identify goods in transactions, such as receive, move, production or shipping. License plating substantially reduces the number of scans necessary to enter a transaction since only one barcode or RFID tag needs to be scanned to identify all of the product information.

Traceability
In many industries such as steel, a major coil is slit into thinner coils. These thinner coils are sold or possibly formed into tub or other final products. It is imperative for manufacturers to trace the lot number through these processes. This allows them to determine which major coils created which slit coils or which major coil was used to create a given container of material. Viewpoint assigns a unique serial number for each entity, be it major coil, slit coil or finished product. The Viewpoint database carries one record for each serial number with the lot number. The lot number will be the same for each entity of a given material batch. The consumption record for a given serial number will point to the parent serial number – the major coil. Viewpoint has the flexibility to support endless levels of parent/child serial number relationships no matter the industry or application.

Physical Inventory – Cycle Counting
Viewpoint Warehouse Management makes adding, subtracting or counting inventory faster and more accurate. If you prefer, inventory information can be downloaded to a personal RF device at any time. Discrepancies can be analyzed to ensure accurate inventory counts.

System Directed Picking – User Directed Picking
Orders can be picked based on urgency rather than time entered. The system also helps you to pick what you are near or what the system wants you to pick. The pick scheduler or controller can assist in assigning the task to pickers.

RF/RFID Devices
Whether you prefer using radio frequency devices, wedges, wands or RFID Viewpoint will increase your warehouse efficiency. With Viewpoint the choice of hardware provider is yours. Viewpoint has been designed to interface with any of the major hardware manufacturers including Intermec, Symbol, Teklogix, LXE, Microscan, Denso and Zebra.

Pre-Built Interfaces
Viewpoint is ready to use. Interfaces have already been written for the major ERP systems such as IFS, System21, PeopleSoft World, MAC-PAC, PRMS, BPCS and BLIS-400, etc.


How Viewpoint Works

Viewpoint is all about choice. The choice is yours - which ERP, data collection devices, platform technology, how you want to collect your data and how you would like your Views designed. These choices are possible because Viewpoint is designed using an Engine/View Philosophy. The Engine is the software that drives Viewpoint Views and that resides on your server.

With the iSeries Edition of Viewpoint, using Nutech’s Screen Mapper your Views are designed to your specifications. The Screen Mapper is a tool that enables the Nutech analysts to efficiently write the interface programs without modifying the ERP business system.

With the Windows Edition of Viewpoint, most interfaces are accomplished using an ERP Software Vendor provided API. The table-driven Views Generator found within the client/server software component of Viewpoint, known as CLASS, allows for the development of Views based upon your specifications and internal procedures.

Viewpoint does not require changes to your business system thereby protecting your ERP warranties and allowing you the flexibility of upgrading your ERP with minimal effect on Viewpoint.

Viewpoint also protects the integrity of your business system and data through a two-tier validation process. Records are first verified at the scanning point (the ideal place to catch a bad entry) and then again at the business system update point.

Viewpoint offers you complete control of your iSeries 400 or Windows server subsystems used to process records to your business system. The Inquiry Set allows you to answer "who, when and where" questions for every scan. Powerful inquiries let an operator see exactly what is happening on the shop floor in real time. Empower your managers by giving them the knowledge they need, in real time, to make those important decisions - when it counts.

All programming resides on either an iSeries 400 or Windows server depending on your choice of technology solution. There is no need to purchase individual computers for each location. Data from the various devices is uploaded to the ERP business system using only one license; thereby you also avoid the cost of purchasing multiple licenses.

Training
Nutech will train as many of your staff as you choose. Clients have found that a more cost-effective option is to have Nutech train one to two of their staff who become the in-house experts on Viewpoint and who can train the other users.

Implementation Assistance
Nutech is available to provide implementation assistance when and if the client requires this service. Many of our clients’ IT personnel have rolled out Viewpoint to other areas within their organization after the initial implementation of the data collection system.
